Aural pleasure: Brett Eclectic

I share things on this blog sporadically and would like to make it more of a habit in 2020, just putting that out there because its that time of the year isn't it?

Today, I have been relaxing, listening to music - you know like really listening to it, not just on in the background whilst I do other things and wanted to share this beauty from Brett Eclectic, titled 'Zone of my Own'. He is the funkmeister and this 7 track EP is filled with funk and good vibes.
It tracks have great titles and begins zoning in and ends zoning out, like many things do, as we Zone out of 2019 and Zone fully into 2020 put this guy on your radar, just saying.

The title 'Zone of my own' also seems apt, especially at this time of the year, as we enter a new decade, when resolutions are being made, people take time to reflect and move forward (whilst of course, uploading it all onto social media for the world to see - hello 2019!)
Push ahead in what ever way makes you happiest and whilst doing that, take a little time to be in your own zone and see what magic happens too. In a world where we are now constantly bombarded by other peoples ideas, opinions or whatever it maybe, its good to Zone out, listen to yourself and create your own way.

Enjoy the music. I'm hoping for a Systematic comeback in 2020, linked below, no pressure, of course! (as well as keeping this blog up a bit more, doing some interviews and who knows what else?)

Happy New Year everyone!

Aural pleasure: Dave Hudson and Wahine DJ Spin City 100th Show

Bringing back the Aural pleasure with some disco delights with a mix from Dave Hudson and Wahine DJ.  Its the 100th mix from Spin City, a 2 hour weekly show run by Goz, owner and host, on myhouseradio.fm and can be heard every Sunday 7-9pm.  There are weekly guests and you can hear Dave Hudson play on the show once a month.

Wahine DJ sprung onto my radar recently through RESRGNS,
with her show 'Hands in the Air, Hearts on the floor. Check out RESRGNS for more great music, mixes and shows.Wahine DJ is based in Atlanta, which is definitely somewhere I would LOVE to visit (SO much good music and talent coming from there) recently played Defected Croatia and this mix is the most recent installment of musical magic. I am sure there will be much more to come.

Aural pleasure: Cera Khin

I made this discovery the other day whilst at the gym and in need of a workout mix, its a Dekmantel podcast series mixed by Cera Khin a Berlin based DJ. This mix wierdly popped up at the right moment. I knew it would be a winner from the intro and it is, certainly kept me in the zone for cycling at the gym. Its full of stuff I love including some ghetto tech classics which are particular favourites of mine.

I found an interview here with Cera Khin, who also runs the label 'Lazy Tapes'. She has a full line up of gigs this year so catch her if you can.

Daily aural pleasure: Special Request

This is one of the best mixes I have heard for ages and if you have not had the pleasure then here you go. It is by Special Request who is also Leeds based DJ Paul Woolford from  Dekmantel Festival X Boiler Room last year. I like the stuff Paul Woolford plays and puts out but this alias Special Request is next level for me. The tune selection is on fire with a selection of ghetto tech and house classics. It is now my mission to try and see him play this year.

Daily aural pleasure: Jean Jacques aka1980

Found this absolute gem of a tune the other day 'I have fever for your love' by Jean Jacques aka 1980 and I can't get enough of it. On the bio for soundcloud its 'You don't need to read who I but to listen to what I am' which is lovely and refreshing. You can do just that and listen away!
Its on Lisztomania label, from Russia apparently and I have linked some stuff, as per. I love a bit of linkage especially when there are dreamy and delightful tunes at the end of them!

The original source for finding this beaut of a tune was from Luke Solomon@ Classic Music Company X Natural Selection with Honey Dijon, what a combination!

Daily Aural pleasure: Brett Johnson mix (Music is 4 Lovers)

I stumbled upon this beauty this afternoon and after a day of thoughts going around in my head about wanting to write more about the music I find again, it has reignited a flame to share it (and hopefully loads more stuff). I'm one for turning thoughts into actions, even if it is virtually sharing stuff. Wierdly, at the moment typed this I just shazamed the Nick Curly track - Inside my head (Glimpse remix). Instead of the music I would love to share staying inside my head, here it is. Its a Brett Johnson mix for Music is 4 Lovers and it is a proper beast of a mix. Its going to be firmly wrapped around my earlugs for a while, especially whilst at the gym (yes, really!). Its one of those versatile daytime and nightime mixes.

Check it out and Music is 4 Lovers where you'll find hours of joy and goodness in music form.
