PIVOTAL MOMENTS: SPIN CITY GOZ

Last week I put out a blogpost asking for peoples pivotal moments in their artists journeys. This may have been a moment which pushed you forward, a chance meeting, collaboration, someone who took an interest or whatever it may have been to push you in a certain direction (hopefully forward, as thats always better!).

My first one up is from Spin City Goz who kindly responded to an instagram post and here it is, "Mine was when I was working away from home Monday to Friday. I lived in a rented apartment and basically had nothing to do most evenings. I'd given up DJing for around 15 years and was searching for something to fill my time after work. I was sitting in one night, bored out of my mind and decided there and then I was going to buy equiptment again and start up. I opened a soundcloud page for me and my mates to listen to my mixes and the rest, as they say, is history."

It goes to show, great things come out of boredom!

If you haven't had the pleasure of listening to Spin City Goz, his show Spin City airs on New York's number one House Music Station, www.myhouseradio.fm. on Sunday nights at 7pm GMT (2pm NYC) for 2 hours. Make sure you have a listen. The first hour is normally Goz with a special guest each week, some of those guests are Wahine DJ, John Le Visiteur and many more. Check out the links to find out more.

Aural pleasure: Insomniac's Dream Vol.1, Wahine DJ

Some Sundays Sounds from Wahine DJ, if you have heard 'Hands in the Air, Hearts on the Floor' mixes on resrgns, you'll hear this mix takes things in a slightly different. Its downtempo and delightful, in the words on Wahine, 'Take a load off, pour the wine. These tunes are to soothe the savage week'

Enjoy!

PIVOTAL MOMENTS

A few weeks ago, I had a little clear out of old magazines, well actually, after some debate and a post on instagram, I kept them. Some conversations were sparked with people about their magazine collections and stories told, which sparked an idea and brings me to the title of this post, titled, 'Pivotal Moments'. A moment where there is an important shift in direction, where something could have gone one way or the other, hopefully it was a forward motion and a positive shift.

It got me thinking about Pivotal Moments in artists journeys and anyones journey really but for this blog I'd like to focus on artists journeys.

Do you have a Pivotal Moment which pushed you forward as an artist? A moment where there was an egnition when the lights were dimmed, a chance encounter, a shitty job which flipped you into a way of thinking, a person, conversation, visit to a City, record shop or place, someone taking an interest, chance collaboration or anything else?

Does anyone want to share their 'Pivotal Moment/s' with me, it may inspire someone else or if nothing else be a great story to share and fun read for others! If so, I'll share one a week (or more) or something like that and can include your music links and recent projects etc.....

You can mail me at audiocarousel@gmail.com
